Updates: January 2016
The new year is well underway, and here at Gun by Gun, 2016 is off to a great start!
We had a remarkable close to 2015, ending the year with a gun buyback in San Francisco that eliminated 247 dangerous guns - a success thanks to the great collaboration of the Gun by Gun community - many of you, who volunteered and supported the effort with all of our great partners in San Francisco. Check out some of our behind-the-scenes photos here.

Launch a community-funded gun buyback in Cleveland
Cleveland is suffering its most violent year this decade. Many of us are frustrated and want to do something about it. Well, now we can.
We're collecting email addresses as a "silent petition" to launch a Gun by Gun campaign in Cleveland. Once we have enough signatures, we're going to start raising money to host Cleveland's first-ever community-funded gun buyback.
Every one of us will have the power to take a gun off the streets.
We know that communities with fewer guns have less gun violence. Let's join together to take guns off Cleveland's streets to make our community a safer place for our families in 2016.
Sign up now, and encourage your neighbors to do the same. It's time we come take action to make our voices heard and make our city safer, gun by gun.

Who we are
Our mission is to empower people to make a tangible impact on gun violence without waiting for political action.
We're a San Francisco-based nonprofit organization founded in 2013 by Ian Johnstone, a tech entrepreneur who lost his father to gun violence at the age of 10, and Eric King, an Innovation Specialist with the US Agency for International Development who specializes in tech-enabled solutions to social challenges.
- We believe in common-sense solutions that prevent guns from falling into the wrong hands. We’re not here to debate about the 2nd Amendment; we’re here to take meaningful action towards preventing gun violence.
- We believe that action needs to be taken now. With 85 Americans dying from gun violence each day, we cannot continue to wait for political resolution - we must take action ourselves.
- We respect responsible gun ownership. Many of our most fervent supporters are gun owners, as they have first-hand knowledge of the personal responsibilities of gun ownership and the dangers presented when those responsibilities are not met.
- We believe in the power of communities. Real change comes when coalitions are formed around a shared goal and people are empowered to take action.
